The cost effective way to replace missing teeth

Why Would Dr. Sievert Recommend a Dental Implant

Dental implants are designed to provide a strong foundation for replacement teeth. These new teeth look, feel and perform just like a regular tooth. Dental implants are changing the way that our patients live. A person who has lost a tooth is able to regain the ability to eat with that tooth again. A dental implant appears completely natural and when placed keeps your facial contours intact. Implants also prevent bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing. Replacing missing teeth with an implant is one of the healthiest ways to replace a missing tooth.

What Are Dental Implants Made Of?

A dental implant is made from titanium. A small post made from titanium is surgically placed into the patients jawbone where the original tooth is missing. This post acts as an anchor. Once the post is placed, the abutment is screwed into the implant, and then lastly the crown is attached to the implant.

Three Simple Steps to Place a Dental Implant

There are three parts that make up a dental implant.

  • The implant: a titanium screw.
  • The abutment: a small piece that insures a snug fit.
  • Crown: the top part of the tooth that is attached to the implant.

Dental implants are very cost effective and if properly cared for will last for many many years. The process of placing a dental implant is simple and straightforward and is a regular treatment here at Westlake Family Dentistry.

Dental implants are an amazing service for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants maintain the bone integrity of the jaw and provide a very natural tooth replacement. A brush and floss just like a natural tooth and you can’t get a cavity! In fact in general I would say for the last 20 years, a dental implant is a preferred method for replacing a tooth. Even over a bridge or a removable partial denture. It is an easy 3 step process. To summarize, the first appointment will consult with you and discuss your needs and goals, take any necessary x-rays and treatment plans in your case. The second appointment the implants are placed, and at the 3rd appointment – we will place your crown on the implant. At that point you are finished! The implants can also be used to stabilize partials, or complete dentures. Dentures then connect to the implants can be very, very solid; oftentimes allowing you to eat things that you have not been able to for years. Dental implant may be one of the best dental treatments possible oftentimes significantly improving quality of life, I encourage you to contact our office if you would like to have a consultation regarding your dental implants. Dental implants are titanium roots, that are replaced with in the jawbone to resemble a tooth or group of teeth. A screw is inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. A porcelain crown is then attached to the screw to become the new tooth or teeth. They can be used to support dental prosthesis including crowns, dentures, and bridges. Today’s treatments are so natural looking, no one will know you had surgery. With modern advances in dentistry, some implants can be restored immediately with life like all porcelain crowns.
